Everything about the villa, and the host, were just right.
The mesmerizing panoramic view of Marsala and the Egadi Islands, and the stunning sun sets, were beyond even our high expectations. You'll see the photographs and many similar everywhere but until you see it for real, probably with a chilled glass of Prosecco in hand, you can't really appreciate it.
Michele the host gave us such a warm welcome - helped by the fact that mother nature laid on a sunset as we were touring the patio and pool areas.
Oh, and don't forget the lovely fresh pizzas delivered to our patio - something Michele asked if we would like after we confirmed our slightly late arrival time. We paid the driver directly, but just having the arrangements all made for us was so helpful and really set the tone for our host experience
The location is far enough above Marsala to be utterly peaceful whenever you are home, but close enough to make the 15min drive into the city easy and stress free. Two good sized supermarkets (Conad and Lidl) are just a few minutes away so we were always well stocked with fresh provisions.
Michele also gave us some really good tips on restaurants of different styles which also really helped to get the feel of the town.
We stayed local mostly but did take a day trip to Erice which I would highly recommend and spent a day in Palermo too which is much bigger and more touristy, but still very much a worthwhile experience.
Going in very early June we found everything surprisingly quiet, parking was easy (with the easy-park app) restaurants were always available and the weather was absolutely perfect. I guess in peak season things might be busier.
Genuinely nothing was a disappointment. Dragging ourselves from the pool to go exploring was more difficult than expected, but we had plenty of chances to do so if we'd been more inclined.
